Fantastic business stay

Overall a great business stay, would definitely stay again. Wonderful front desk staff who really anticipate your needs, a special shout out to Maria who made my stay feel personable from the very start. Even housekeeping staff is lovely and friendly, always greeting you in the elevator and asking what floor you're trying to get to. The room was renovated, so it was quite nice in comparison to the pictures shown. I was on the 18th floor - very clean and nice views. I quite liked the layout of the room, it was both functional and versatile with a cushioned bench that doubles as a luggage rack. You can easily move the table in the room around to make more space if you need to do a work out and the desk in the room allows you to face both ways. Would have loved more USB outlets though. In terms of area, lots of coffee shops and restaurants around to pick from and a 15 minute walk from the TTC to get down town. Feels quite safe too.

I stayed in the hotel from May 10 to 13, 2024. I had to pay for breakfast and parking, and the staff were polite and good, but the room was not as I imagined, and I was not satisfied with the cleanliness of the room and the bathroom and toilet, especially with the money I expected breakfast and parking. To be provided free of charge to guests...

Mostly good - would stay there again.

The hotel was great! Good location, parking was reasonable and in a garage. Subway was also accessible without going outside. Since we were traveling with a car but didn't plan to use it, it was perfect. The only caveat - the room was warm no matter how much we used the AC. We came to think that the fridge in the room was putting out heat. I'd reccomend unplugging it if you don't need it.

Difficulties in paying, lack of silence (repair work)

The hotel does not have terminals for paying with Apple Pay; you need a physical card (plastic). They cannot take funds through the booking account (the card is linked there). They have a deposit >50$/night. They do not accept US dollars, they do not take deposits in US dollars. They do not exchange currency. Since early morning they carry out repair work, it is very noisy. They start drilling the walls in the morning at 08.00. The breakfast cafe opens late, there are no lunch boxes for early breakfasts.

Bed bugs in room 916

Live bed bugs on the bed in room 916. I had the most traumatizing experience staying at this hotel. Went to bed to see a bed bug crawling across the duvet. I found 2 and killed them. It was after midnight and I packed up to stay somewhere else. I have had to incur expenses to discard of anything that had exposure in the room and that had close contact to the bed as well as steaming, dry cleaning and sanitizing washing everything to avoid an infestion in my home. I was under the impression by the hotel specially the Housekeeping manager that they would rectify the situation knowing how stressful the situation was. I have been given the run around for a month since I have submitted my incurred costs to deal with staying at their hotel. At this point I have received no resolution and the general manager's email address generates an automatic reply with another person's email. This new email sends back an error message saying the email can't be sent. It is very unfortunate that this is how the hotel is treating the situation. I will never stay at another Novotel hotel and I traveled for weeks this summer staying at half a dozen hotels and have never experienced bed bugs. The negligence in housekeeping to not have inspected the bed is not acceptable. It took 3 months with a lot of back and forth and following up with different employees to receive partial reimbursement for the costs incurred to avoid bringing the bugs into my home. The hotel indicates that they have dealt with the bed bug situation in the room. I had asked for the report confirming this so other guests don't have to go through this however they did not provide it.
